Celebrate your marriage in the East of England and experience the unspoilt charm the region has to offer with its miles of scenic countryside and its award-wining beaches.

Bedfordshire is overflowing with interesting places to visit and things to do. ‘Go wild’ at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park or Woburn Safari Park where you will come face to face with some of the world’s most exciting animals and some of the most rare and endangered ones too. The historic county town of Bedford lies on the banks of River Great Ouse where many regattas and other events take place. It flows through water meadows, past picturesque villages with friendly pubs serving homemade food; you may even come across the traditional ‘Bedfordshire Clanger’ a pastry shaped pie half savoury and half sweet. It would be impossible to miss the imposing silhouettes of the airship hangers at Cardington, recently used as the set for ‘Batman Begins’!

Cambridgeshire is a lovely county, with its most famous destination being Cambridge, one of the world’s leading academic centres. The Cambridge university buildings are outstanding, reflecting a variety of architectural styles. A drift along the ‘Backs’ in a punt gives a unique view of the medial colleges set on beautiful lawns overshadowed by willows.

Even though Essex is the gateway to London, bordering the banks of the River Thames the county has lovely scenery and abounds of history too! Be taken back in time and relive the history of the past in Colchester, Britain’s oldest town where you will come across the remains the Romans left behind many years ago at Colchester Castle and Museum. Get caught up in the cosmopolitan atmosphere at Southend-on-Sea, a vibrant resort which has put the East of England in the record books for having the world’s longest Pier, an attraction not to miss.

Nothing would be more romantic than visiting Hatfield House in Hertfordshire. This Jacobean house steeped in Elizabethan history along with its park and gardens was featured in the inspiring Shakespeare in Love movie and is also Queen Elizabeth I´s childhood home. An essential on any local itinerary is St Albans, once known as the City of Verulamium - the second largest town in Roman Britain. This is where you will come across the only Roman Theatre in the UK and one of the most important rose collections in the world at Gardens of the Rose.

Norfolk is home to the fascinating Broads, the largest protected wetland in Britain. The several restored windmills, medieval churches, beautiful gardens and unique wildlife attract millions of people each year. Hire a boat for the day and enjoy the feeling of complete remoteness for yourself. But as you head for Great Yarmouth you will discover that the county is not all peace and quiet. The UK’s most popular seaside resort offers a 15 mile stretch of sandy beaches, a proud maritime heritage and a great deal of attractions. There are a number of events throughout the year including fetes, festivals, and concerts. The seafront illuminations are a must see!

Some of the countries most attractive and peaceful countryside can be found in Suffolk. Visit ‘Constable Country’ and capture the true magic of the landscapes once painted by John Constable, the famous English romantic artist. Stroll along the river Stour, through the meadows and past the mill that are featured in his famous paintings of Dedham Vale, a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty stretching into Essex.

The East of England is one of stupendous beauty; its unspoilt character makes it a fantastic region to get married in.
