Weddings in Scotland

More and more couples are choosing Scotland for their big day as you can get married practically anywhere you wish, whether it be at a romantic spot indoors or outdoors, the choice is yours! Scotland has a wide range of unforgettable venues from fairytale castles to luxurious hotels and stately homes; it really won’t be difficult to find the ultimate setting!

Weddings in Scotland are likely to be very lively celebrations; they tend to go on for hours and hours with plenty of eating, drinking, dancing and fun… it just wouldn’t be the same without adding a touch of Scottish tradition to your ceremony. While there is nothing more Scottish than having the groom in full highland dress and bagpipers playing in the background, there are lots of other ways to make your wedding more Scottish; why not have part of your service performed in Gaelic, hire a ceilidh band for your reception with a traditional sword dance to entertain the guests?

Not only is Scotland a favourite for tying the knot, but also for exploring and enjoying! Scotland’s sumptuous cities Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Stirling and its Capital Edinburgh are ideal for doing just this. Although they each have their own distinctive character offering a unique experience, you will expect to find a perfect mix of history, culture and entertainment!

Scotland has some amazing natural wonders such as the Corryvreckan Whirlpool, Fingal’s Cave, Loch Lomand and the Great Glen which are all well worth a look while the spectacular Northern lights in the skies above Scotland are an absolute must if you are travelling to the far North! In all Scotland’s landscape really does provide some truly inspiring sights - remote islands, stunning seascapes and towering mountains with breathtaking views from the peaks. There is no better way to make the most of Scotland’s scenery than to get out there in the fresh air!

There are an overwhelming variety of leisure and sport opportunities to suit all ages and abilities such as fishing and cycling, or you could always try something a little different such as sphereing (hurling down a hillside inside a huge transparent inflatable ball), ice climbing at Ben Nevis or even dog sledging! And then there is golf…Scotland is also internationally known as the Home of Golf with as many as 550 courses throughout the country, in particular the Fife town of St. Andrews. For those enthusiasts, come and explore the trails which tribute to James Braid – champion golfer as well as one of golf’s best golf course designers of all times!

Whiskey is one of the most common things associated with Scotland. The Scots love their Whiskey and for those of you who share the same love or simply want to learn more about the country’s national drink there are many itineraries across Scotland. And as food and drink go hand in hand, make sure you sample some of Scotland’s finest cuisine from Aberdeen Angus beef and Loch Fyne seafood to Ayrshire cheeses and Clyde Valley fruits.

There are many reasons why Scotland is such a wonderful place to visit; one of them has to be its calendar of events which are filled with enjoyment, fellowship and of course ethos! A social occasion not to be missed are the Highland games during the summer months…come and see the tug-o-war, toss the caber and throw the hammer competitions along with pipe bands and highland dancers. Or if you happen to be in Scotland around the 25th of January then a Burns Super is a must…celebrate the birth of Scotland’s national bard and globally loved Robert Burns with poetry recitations, ample Scotch and the quintessential Scots delicacy – haggis!

Escape to a country like no other, one of sheer romance and beauty! Scotland is sure to make an ideal backdrop for your most treasured photographs on the greatest day of your life!
